"Later. I'm gone.
Maybe you can catch me
down in Mexico."
...
Which I took to mean
that by tomorrow,
she'll be in Canada.

Learned Last Night

I learned last night, that my son already knew...
'Bout all the things in life; I didn't have a clue.

I heard it from an angel;...I heard it from a wise man...
I heard it from my executioner;...now I know I understand.

Like a guy on a raft, floating out to sea....
I thought the land was moving away....
So busy forgetting I was on a raft....
Now seeing the obvious, what can I say?

Except last night I finally realized...
That I have a point of view.
It's like I had to be hit over the head with a brick....
For me to know what to do.

I still might have a fighting chance,...
Now that I realized I fucked up bad.
But, I got a lot of fixin' to do....
And, I'm dead, if I don't get mad.

I sure owe a lot of people...
I've gotta make things right.
Even if it comes close to killing me,....
And I have to stay up every day and night.



'Cause I learned last night..that my son already knew.

About all the things in life...
I didn't have a clue.
